Hora is an important concept in Vedic Astrology. The word "Hora" comes from "Ahoratra" (Ahah + Ratra = Day + Night). The day is divided into 24 equal parts, each ruled by a planet.
The first Hora from sunrise belongs to the weekday lord planet. Then Horas change in the order: Sun → Venus → Mercury → Moon → Saturn → Jupiter → Mars.

Day Hora = (Sunset - Sunrise) ÷ 12
Night Hora = (Sunrise - Sunset) ÷ 12
